WORLD CAPITAL OF CULTURE AND TOURISM
On behalf of The Secretariat of the European Council on Tourism and Trade (ECTT) Director Vasile Vlasin presented the list of the applications for WORLD CAPITAL OF CULTURE AND TOURISM designation by the global tourism institution.
The applications for WORLD CAPITAL OF CULTURE AND TOURISM will be debated and approved during the ECTT Executive Board Meeting (23 April 2019).
Investment Director for ECTT Vasile Vlasin announced that forty-eight cities (48) and regions from Africa, Asia and America had entered into final evaluation stage and had fulfilled the pre-requisite to be considered for the top cultural and heritage tourism award.

These 48 cities and regions are promising to foster a new wave of tourism development across the world and to leverage and support new tourism-related initiatives and to create more than 500.000 jobs in the next three years and to garner a profit estimated to over 1 billion USD announced Mr. Vlasin.

Kazakhstan, Astana, – The President of the Global Tourism Institutions (European Council on Tourism and Trade and European Tourism Academy) Professor Dr. Anton Caragea has officially received Prime Minister Askar Mamin positions on Tourism Development in Kazakhstan and President Nursultan Nazarbayev vision for Kazakh Tourism Strategy 2030.
European Council on Tourism and Trade President was informed about Kazakhstan`s Prime Minister, H.E. Askar Mamin desire to discuss the development of the tourism sector in the country.

CANDIDATURES FOR WORLD CAPITAL OF CULTURE AND TOURISM ARE POURING FROM ACROSS THE WORLD.
Latin America has started a push for tourism development and international recognition.
After a wave of candidature`s from the region where registered for 2017 WORLD BEST TOURIST DESTINATION AWARD now it was the time for Venezuela to invite for a familiarization and discovery trip a high level delegation of European Council on Tourism and Trade and to start preparing for a candidature of Caracas, the capital city, to the international title of WORLD CAPITAL OF CULTURE AND TOURISM.
All this is offering new hopes for tourism growth and is paving the way for a cultural revival of Latin America with the support of European Council on Tourism and Trade.
European Council on Tourism and Trade President, Professor Dr. Anton Caragea, has accepted the invitation from Venezuelan Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Jorge Arreaza Montserrat, for a familiarization visit with the realities of the Latin American country.

The cultural program of the visit included discovery trips to Natural Sanctuary of Waraira Repano, a tour of Caracas landmarks like The Cathedral of Caracas, Saint Francis, Simon Bolivar birthplace etc.

From 2 January 2017, the world tourism institution of European Council on Tourism and Trade, had started to officially register the countries and cities candidatures for WORLD BEST TOURIST DESTINATION for countries and WORLD CAPITAL OF CULTURE AND TOURISM for cities desirous to become international hubs for tourism.
The ECTT Awards for tourism and cultural achievements are the annual celebration that awards the best in tourism industry crowning, since 2006, the countries and nations excellence and investment in the tourism sector, putting under the world limelight the exceptional leadership and nation prowess, in the framework of WORLD CAPITAL OF CULTURE AND TOURISM and WORLD BEST TOURIST DESTINATION AWARD, and the category of FAVORITE CULTURAL DESTINATION and marking out outstanding cultural and investment tourism projects.

The celebration continued with a presentation of national dishes and culinary traditions and hospitality and folk costumes, presenting the participants with a unique opportunity to taste and enjoy the world food as part of tourism development of today.

Many contenders for the title opted to register their capitals or other landmark cities or regions for WORLD CAPITAL OF CULTURE AND TOURISM IN 2017, noted Mrs. Ioana Rosu, responsible for collecting the candidatures for WORLD CAPITAL OF CULTURE AND TOURISM IN 2017 cities, which is a first.
In total 24 cities and region`s from across the globe, aspire for the world famous designation.
H.E. Professor Dr. Anton Caragea had stated that: the evaluation process is already started and it is an ongoing research and decision activity.
We will have also countries that will be approach by us, to take part in the selection process, in order to obtain a balanced geographical distribution of the winners of World Capital of Culture and Tourism for 2017 and we will consider as always where we can have the biggest impact in promoting a new destination like in Trinidad, in promoting rural and social tourism, like in Lao PDR or rebranding a country and reasserting it in the world tourism field like in Zimbabwe case.
We hope that we will have the same global impact and weight in promoting new emerging destination`s and in asserting cultural tourism role and importance.
